Geneva, 7–11 July 2025

We are proud to announce that Professor Pilar Orero presented the MOSAIC project at the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, held from July 7 to 11 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. This milestone UN event, co-hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), gathered global stakeholders to discuss digital cooperation and inclusion under the overarching theme of building people-centered, inclusive, and development-oriented information and knowledge societies. MOSAIC was featured as part of Session 229 – Media and Education for All: Bridging Female Academic Leaders and Society, chaired by Dr. Anita Lamprecht.
MOSAIC stands at the forefront of innovation in AI-enhanced media accessibility. During her presentation, Pilar showcased how the project leverages artificial intelligence to improve media searchability and accessibility through enriched services such as AI-generated subtitles, metadata-driven navigation, and semantic content enrichment. These technologies not only support users with disabilities but also make media content more discoverable and usable by diverse audiences worldwide. The session emphasized how projects like MOSAIC contribute to the WSIS vision of inclusive information societies by aligning media technology with principles of equity and universal design.
This global recognition highlights the relevance of MOSAIC in shaping the future of digital media ecosystems. The event also provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration with other accessibility-focused initiatives and academic leaders. We extend our sincere thanks to WSIS+20 organizers and attendees, and to Pilar for representing MOSAIC and the Xarxa AccessCat network on this international stage.
