MOSAIC in a nutshell

MOSAIC is developing a European AI-powered platform that connects broadcasters, news creators, and citizens across the EU, a central hub for discovering, accessing, and sharing multilingual media content while preserving European digital autonomy.

The Context

Citizens and media professionals normally lack easy access to diverse, cross-border informative content from European broadcasters and news platforms. Current fragmentation limits content discoverability and monetization of valuable media archives.

What MOSAIC Brings Beyond the State-of-the-Art

  • Advanced multilingual AI: Custom European Large Language Models enabling translation and subtitling across 7+ languages (including low-resourced ones) using zero-shot translation that surpasses current neural translation systems.
  • Centralised accessibility: Single hub connecting public and private media across EU Member States
  • Scalable APIs: Easy integration for future users and platforms.
  • Values-driven discovery: AI recommendation systems aligned with democratic principles, ensuring pluralistic content exposure.
  • Archive monetization: New commercial opportunities for broadcasters’ knowledge repositories.

Expected Outcomes

  • Enhanced EU autonomy in media technology.
  • Broader access to diverse, trustworthy European content for citizens.
  • Cross-border content collaboration and discovery.
  • Foundation for future media formats (augmented reality, new content types).
  • Economic opportunities through content monetization.

Target Audiences

  • Broadcasters & news agencies seeking to expand reach and monetize archives.
  • Media professionals needing cross-border content access
  • EU citizens wanting diverse, multilingual informative content
  • Content platforms & distributors looking for scalable integration solutions
